Cameri is a town located in the north west of Italy in the Province of Novara at about 40 Km far from Milan.

By the orographic point of view Cameri is a typical locality of a Po river valley with a flat landscape crossed by many irrigation canals that have concurred , through the centuries, to the development of a highly productive and intensive agriculture

This is testified, also nowadays, by the presence of a particular cultivation of cereals.
The rice production plays a particular role: in this area there is the northernmost rice cultivation of the world and, though the continuous demand of intervention for granting the necessary soil fertility, such activity results to be particularly remunerative.

Another important portion of the town territory is covered by spontaneous woods.
The town is in fact included in the area of the Naturalistic Ticino Park.
This is a protected area situated along the sides of the Ticino River, touristic place for a great number of people of all the surrounding city areas.

Cameri lays on a Km² 39.65 territory with 9527 resident people and a density of 240 inhabitant for squared kilometer with an increasing demographic trend.

The reason of this trend is due to the belonging of Cameri to the Novara urban area and to the prospects of establishment of management and services companies forecast for the next years. Other developments will be surely favorite by correct political actions of natural and urban environment protection as it’s also today sawn by the citizens who live in Cameri.

The area, by the point of view of the infrastructures, is particularly served: Milan and Turin cities are both easly reachable by motorway or railways from Novara; the Malpensa Intercontinental Airport, that serve the whole Northern Italy, is only 28 kilometers far from the town.

Thank to this favorable position, many productive firms are located in the area: there is a branch of an important mechanical company who operates in the field of motor-vehicles production.

There are also great chemicals, pharmaceuticals and textiles manufactories, with long traditions.
A military airfield is located in the Cameri territory, for the North-West Italian defenses.

The sectors of job activities of the citizens are so distributed: 2916 in manufactories and constructions fields, 1030 in commercial, transport and public services activities.

This lack of balance in favour of productive sectors is tipical of urban areas around the cities (as Novara) which tende to concentrate in themselves the major and more important services activities.

The above data confirm the urban nature of the town of Cameri where only 113 inhabitants are employed in the primary sector.

The active population is the 41,55% of all the residents.
The percentage of unemployment is similar to those of the Province of Novara (6,24%)

The istoric-artistic Cameri heritage is mainly constituted by churches and old rural constructions of some particular values as Villa Picchetta forecast to become the Head Office of the Natuaralistic Ticino Park.

One rural tradition of Cameri is the medieval festival (Palio) with the ass running race. There is also in the town a well known chorus group.

All touristic local initiatives are promoted by the Proloco Association.

Alpine lakes as Maggiore Lake and Orta Lake are ony 30 kilometers far from Cameri.
